Edition Michael Procter

Renaissance choral music

Catalogue of editions by the late Michael Procter

Singers around the world will be pleased to know that Edition Michael Procter is available again, following the sad death of Michael Procter in 2012. His large collection of sacred choral music by renaissance composers is a very valuable resource for choirs, churches and music lovers.

There are an estimated 850 pieces in the catalogue (including versions offered in different transpositions), mostly transcribed by Michael from original sources in libraries all over Europe. These will be verified and re-catalogued over the next few years.

Orders and enquiries are welcome now at info@edition-mp.com and will be produced and sold by Peacock Press.

SSAATB Scoring legend Christmas - Anthem ISMN M-2056-1026-5
This is one of the best-known pieces of English church music, but it has always been presented a third higher than the original. It is also available from us at that pitch, but this version is at the original pitch, suitable for AATTBaB etc.
Gloria in excelsis Deo EMP1027 £3.00
SSAATB Scoring legend Christmas - Anthem ISMN M-2056-1027-2
This is one of the best-known pieces of English church music. Our edition seems to be the only one which is available at the original pitch, suitable for male voices SSAATB, but we also provide it a third higher, as here.
Gloria in excelsis Deo EMP1040 £3.00
SSAATB Scoring legend Christmas - Anthem ISMN M-2056-1040-1
Most people know the piece (a) transposed up a third from the original pitch, and (b) in versions produced by collating all the remaining sources (or of course illegally copied from such editions). This version is based entirely on the set of manuscript partbooks in British Library Add. Mss 17786-17791, and reproduces the text as given there, which differs somewhat from the hybrid version. It is at the original pitch, suitable for AATTBaB etc.
Thule, the period of cosmographie EMP0428 £3.00
SSATTB Scoring legend Secular - Ed: Pierre Funck and Michael Procter ISMN M-2056-0428-8
The celebrated madrigal is given here at the correct transposed pitch.
