Scoring

Singers around the world will be pleased to know that Edition Michael Procter is available again, following the sad death of Michael Procter in 2012. His large collection of sacred choral music by renaissance composers is a very valuable resource for choirs, churches and music lovers.

There are an estimated 850 pieces in the catalogue (including versions offered in different transpositions), mostly transcribed by Michael from original sources in libraries all over Europe. These will be verified and re-catalogued over the next few years.

Orders and enquiries are welcome now at info@edition-mp.com and will be produced and sold by Peacock Press.

SATTBaB Scoring legend
Donato, Baldassare, Viri Galilaei EMP0643 £3.50
Ascension - Introitus ISMN M-2056-0643-5
A rather unusual setting including the Verse Cum intuerentur. Most settings provide only the 'antiphon' part of the Introit, this one includes the Verse as set in the liturgy of St. Mark's in Venice as well as in the Use of Sarum.
Dulichius, Philipp, Two motets EMP0481 £4.80
General Use - Motet general (Other) ISMN M-2056-0481-3
Nun bitten wir den Heiligen Geist; Da pacem Domine/Verleih uns Frieden (dual texts)
Finck, Heinrich, Wedding Mass 1511 EMP0345 £10.60
Mass Ordinary - Ed: Reiner Schneider-Waterberg ISMN M-2056-0345-8
Missa O Venus bant, also known as Missa In Summis, composed for the wedding of Ulrich von Württemberg and Sabine von Bayern
Gabrieli, Andrea, Miserere mei Domine (Ps. 50) EMP1114 £4.00
Penitential - Psalm ISMN M-2056-1114-9
The fourth Penitential Psalm (Ps. 50) from Gabrieli's magnificent collection of settings published in 1583. We have so far published numbers 1,4,5,6 and 7; the other two settings are in the pipeline. This version of Miserere mei Deus, the first with the original note values, replaces our earlier edition EMP0353. It is a fourth lower than the high-clef original, but is also available at other pitches. In this version the Altus, Tenor and Quintus are all printed in the octave-treble clef; EMP1115 presents the Altus in treble clef (which we think looks horrible...)
Alternative version(s):
EMP0984 A tone lower
EMP1115 A fourth lower, Alto in treble clef
Gabrieli, Andrea, Miserere mei Domine (Ps. 50) EMP1115 £4.00
Penitential - Psalm ISMN M-2056-1115-6
The fourth Penitential Psalm (Ps. 50) from Gabrieli's magnificent collection of settings published in 1583. We have so far published numbers 1,4,5,6 and 7; the other two settings are in the pipeline. This version of Miserere mei Deus, the first to be reissued with the original note values, replaces our earlier edition EMP0353. It is a fourth lower than the high-clef original, but is also available at other pitches. In this version the Altus is in treble clef, for those who cannot read the octave clef.
Alternative version(s):
EMP0984 A tone lower
EMP1114 A fourth lower
Isaac, Heinrich, In Ascensione Domini EMP0754 £3.00
Ascension - Mass Propers ISMN M-2056-0754-8
Mass propers from Choralis Constantinus: Introit - Viri Galilaei, Alleluia - Dominus in Sina, Communion - Psallite Domino.
Isaac, Heinrich, O regina nobilissima EMP0752 £5.00
Marian Feasts ISMN M-2056-0752-4
A contrafactum or, arguably, the original version, of Isaac's Angeli Archangeli. The use of the Comme femme descomfortee theme as cantus firmus has led to the suggestion that this piece is indeed the original. A magnificent piece, some 6 minutes in length.
Jachet (Iachet) de Berchem, Peccantem me EMP0005 £2.00
Penitential - Motet general ISMN M-2056-0005-1
Berchem was a protege of Willaert, who included this piece in one of his own published collections.
Mouton, Jean, Salva nos Domine dormientes EMP0388 £2.00
General Use - Compline ISMN M-2056-0388-5
Willaert, Adrian, O salutaris hostia EMP0264 £3.00
General Use - Communion (Manuscript edition) ISMN M-2056-0264-2
The text appears chiefly in connection with Corpus Christi, but the work is generally sung as a Communion motet.
