Daser, Ludwig, Missa super Ave Maria EMP0637 £8.20
Marian Feasts - Mass Ordinary ISMN M-2056-0637-4
Daser was the choirmaster in Munich when Lassus joined the Bavarian Court Chapel as a tenor, putting Daser rather in the position of Salieri in Venice: a good composer unlucky enough to find himself coupled with one of world stature. Daser was offered an honourable compromise, taking the director's position in Stuttgart with a lifelong pension from the Bavarian ducal house. His music is being rediscovered, and this mass on Josquin's famous Marian piece is a very fine one.

Gabrieli, Andrea, Missa Pater peccavi EMP1116 £9.00
General Use - Mass Ordinary ISMN M-2056-1116-3
A wonderful piece, which deserves to be as famous as the Papae Marcelli or the Byrd 'Four Part' masses. It has marvellous sonorities and is imbued throughout with the pathos of íts model, Gabrieli's own motet on the Prodigal Son. The unusual scoring, SSATBB, which is shared by some of the Penitential Psalms, makes the mass very useful for choirs short of tenors. This completely revised edition, which restores original note values, has been checked against the only complete set of original part books in the Staats- und Stadtbibliothek at Augsburg. It replaces our earlier edition EMP 285.

Marian Feasts ISMN M-2056-1294-8
The 6- and 7-voice a capella motets of Gabrieli are among his loveliest, but are usually overshadowed by the large-scale pieces for voices and instruments. We are publishing all the small-scale pieces.

Isaac, Heinrich, Virgo prudentissima EMP0118 £4.00
Occasional piece ISMN M-2056-0118-8
The famous 'Kaisermotette' for the Reichstag in Konstanz, 1507. Michael Procter considers this to be a contrafactum of a lost original setting of the liturgical text, which is the Magnificat Antiphon for the Assumption. The Missa Virgo Prudentissima, thought to have been performed in Innsbruck in 1503, was then a parody on the lost original. The Kaisermotette itself was retexted again in 1558 in honour of Maximilian's grandson Karl V, with the text 'Christus Filius Dei': this version is also available on request. Instrumental parts for the typical 'Maximilian scoring' with cornetti and trombones are also available.

Palestrina, Giovanni Pierluigi da, Missa Tu es Petrus EMP0662 £5.00
General Use - Mass Ordinary ISMN M-2056-0662-6
One of the best-known masses of Palestrina (although the ascription to him cannot be regarded as certain). The model is of course his own magnificent setting of the Responsory Tu es Petrus. Appropriate especially for the two feasts of St Peter, (SS Peter and Paul and St Peter's Chains). At present only the Kyrie, Sanctus and Agnus Dei are available, the complete edition will be finished as quickly as possible.
Palestrina, Giovanni Pierluigi da, Tu es Petrus EMP0213 £3.75
SS Peter and Paul (June 29) ISMN M-2056-0213-10
One of Palestrina's best-known pieces, but one of the many which are actually in high clefs and need transposing. The piece is therefore offered transposed down a fourth for SSATBaB.
